Georgie & Isaac
29.01.22
Isaac, dressed as the purple Teletubby, was dropping it low on the dancefloor when Georgie first laid eyes on him. The pair were introduced by mutual friends, meeting for the first time at a fancy-dress party in Tamworth. And despite Isaac’s disguise, there was an instant attraction. Isaac’s dog Winne took an instant liking to her too. For months after their meet-cute, Winnie kept jumping his fence and would turn up at Georgie’s door a few blocks away. Isaac took this as a sign.
“Isaac rang to tell me he thought it was time we were official,” Georgie said.
If she was accepted by Winnie, she must be a keeper.
In 2020, just as Australia’s borders were closing due to the pandemic, Georgie a corporate affairs manager, and Isaac a veterinarian made the move to England for a year. They needed a change, an adventure, and Isaac got an opportunity as a locum vet. They saw a lot of beautiful countryside, spent a lot of quality time together exploring their new home, and Isaac got some fantastic experience treating creatures great and small. They got to enjoy a European summer in Italy and, thanks to the pandemic, had Rome to themselves with few tourists around.
“There was a generous amount of space to throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain, and that’s where I wished to spend the rest of my life with Isaac,” said Georgie.
Later that year they went to Scotland for Christmas before starting the journey home. They were in the small village of Evanton, north of Inverness, on Christmas morning and Isaac said he’d created a scavenger hunt.
“It ended with us on the lake in our beanies and gumboots and me popping champagne, only to turn around and see him on one knee asking me to marry him,” said Georgie.
Unbeknown to her, Isaac had been designing a sapphire engagement ring with an antique fine jeweler in London for the past 6 months. Now, they were even more excited to return to family and friends and get the wedding planning underway.
Georgie and Isaac tied the knot in late January at Goonoo Goonoo Station – their summertime nuptials screamed sunshine and good vibes. Their vibrant country wedding can only be described as a joyous occasion. The bride could hardly wipe the smile off her face, her infectious laugh captured in almost every photo. Evidence that their day was nothing short of wonderful.
Georgie walked down the aisle to the sound of bagpipes played by Isaac’s cousin Tom – a nod to Scotland where they got engaged.
“They were romantic, dramatic and emotional,” Georgie said.
She stunned in an & For Love linen backless gown, the perfect attire for a summer wedding. Her four bridesmaids all wore vibrant mis-matched dresses, pulled together with the same earrings and bouquets.
“The bold colours photographed beautifully next to the crisp white of the wedding dress. I also wanted the bridesmaids to wear something they felt comfortable and beautiful in,” said Georgie.
After canapes and drinks on the terrace, guests were invited into the Wool Store where an eight-piece band performed a surprise high-energy set with trumpets and guitars through the crowd that got everyone (young and old) dancing before dinner and speeches. They continued to rock the socks off guests for the remainder of the night.
Georgie said, “our relationship has always been easy-going and full of fun, and that was really reflected on our wedding day.”
Throughout the planning process, their goal was to support as many small country businesses as possible. They hired all local vendors, the girls’ accessories were from Central NSW jewellery designer Peggy & Twig and their registry only included gifts sourced from small businesses and boutiques from rural and regional NSW.
70 of their 130 guests stayed overnight at Goonoo Goonoo “which was really lovely to walk around the village all weekend and talk to our loved ones,” said Georgie.
